Meeting Addresses Business, Real Estate

West Oahu Economic Development Association hosts its annual meeting and election Feb. 27 at The Salvation Army Kroc Center, located at 91-3257 Kualakai Pkwy. in Kapolei.

Mike Hamasu of Colliers International intends to inspire all those who are interested in opening a business in the Kapolei area. Hamasu, a commercial marketing expert, will discuss why current market conditions have created a prime development environment for West Oahu.

Speakers Shawn Higa of HEDCO LDC and Thornton “Mark” Spain, deputy district director for Hawaii District of U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will discuss the 504 Loan Program.

According to HEDCO, the SBA 504 Loan Program partners SBA with a third-party lender and the borrower to finance the acquisition of fixed assets that have a useful life of at least 10 years.

HEDCO and SBA will be available before and after the meeting to answer specific questions.

Registration begins at 11 a.m., and election results (nominations were due Feb. 13) will be announced at 12:50 p.m. A buffet lunch is offered at 11:30 following welcome remarks, and presentations begin at noon.
