This week in 1964: The front page of the Honolulu Advertiser features an article titled “Rockers Are Traffic Stoppers.” The article reads as follows: “Over 16,000 people turned out at the Honolulu International Center to hear recording stars at ‘The Million Dollar Party.’ It was the biggest attendance at the center to date and one of Honolulu’s largest audiences. When the first show ended, the cars leaving the center and those arriving for the second show jammed the surrounding streets.
