Makeke Kapolei Marks 1 Year

Makeke Kapolei Farmers and Green Market is turning one year old, and to celebrate the occasion, it hosts its One Year Anniversary Community Celebration from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Kapolei High School parking lot.

In addition to the market’s weekly features, the event will feature free cupcakes for the first 100 customers, live entertainment, door prizes, pumpkin carving, a costume contest, petting zoo, pony rides and more.

Sponsored by the Malama Learning Center, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and Kapolei High School, Makeke Kapolei features more than 30 vendors with fresh fruit and vegetables from local farms, baked goods, organic butters, local honey, peanut butter, jams, local organic beef, fresh fish, native and landscaping plants, vegetable starter plants, food trucks, arts and crafts and more. Each week, the market also hosts workshops, including cultural and cooking demonstrations — and EBT/SNAP is now accept- ed.
