The check was presented at the Flores De Mayo Filipino Fiesta at Kapiolani Park earlier this month, and the monies are intended to support and sponsor future incarnations of the event. (Flores also founded the fiesta 23 years ago.)

This isn’t the first time Flores has given to FilCom Center. He served as FilCom Center’s first vice president in the 1990s, was instrumental in raising the $14.2 million it took to build the facility and still teaches classes there in entrepreneurship.

FilCom Center is the largest Filipino community hub outside of the Philippines, and it provides a range of social and educational services, including Ilokano language immersion courses, citizenship classes, cultural music concerts and more.

The center is located at 94-428 Mokuola St. in Waipahu.
