Kapolei Movie Studio, Hotel On City Agenda

Two West Oahu issues are on the city Planning Commission agenda for a public hearing at 1:30 p.m. June 27 (Wednesday) in the Mission Memorial Building conference room in Honolulu.

The first item to be discussed is a bill to amend the Ewa Development Plan to include a revised plan for the area. The new plan consists of policies, guidelines and implementation strategies that will serve as a policy guide for zoning and investment decisions.

The second hearing will address a proposal to construct a 100,000-square-foot film production studio in Kapolei. If approved, the project also would allow a hotel with about 100 to 150 rooms. As detailed in the proposal, the hotel would serve as an accessory to the production studio – and both would be located on one lot.

The public is welcome to testify on either issue. Fifteen copies of testimony should be filed with the Planning Commission at least 48 hours prior to the hearing. One copy may be faxed to 768-6743.

The Mission Memorial Building is located at 550 S. King St. on the municipal grounds.
