Kaneohe Gym Makes It All Fit

Crossfit Oahu has expanded to open a new facility in Kaneohe, offering members a few steps up from jumping rope and doing bicep curls. A grand opening is set for noon this Saturday at 46-026 Alaloa St. behind Windward Mall.

Clinics and classes are designed to combine cardiovascular exercise, body weight movements and weight exercises to raise members’ physical fitness to the level they choose, explained head coach Bucky Ross. “We like to get everyone acclimated to the gym to understand where they are at with all the movements,” he said. “Workouts can be fairly intense if you want them to be. That’s where we get results, pushing the intensity forward.”

Unlike other membership gyms where one could feel a bit lost walking in, Crossfit Oahu designs its classes and one-on-one training sessions around the individual’s goals and fitness level.

“Everything is scalable, depending on what your level of experience is, whether you are a younger college athlete who has been working out for years or a mother coming into the gym for the first time in a few years,” said Ross, who started at Crossfit Oahu as a member before being offered a coaching position.“There are variations of all our workouts. Everyone can see results no matter where they are starting at.”

This is the fourth Crossfit gym on Oahu, with the others located in Honolulu, Kailua and Waipio. There are plans for another opening in Pearl City at the beginning of September. For more infor- mation on hours, membership rates and the grand opening, visit crossfitoahu.com or call 685-7630.
