June Camp In Punaluu For Grieving Families

Families who have lost loved ones within the last three to four years can get help coping at Hospice Hawaii’s summer camp, set this year for June 13-15 at Queen Lili’uokalani Children’s Center in Punaluu.

The intent is to guide families from the stage of loss and grief to remembrance and healing through crafts and activities with others. This way they may realize they are not alone, and thus discover that it is OK to have fun while grieving. Participants will learn to express their loss through rituals that honor the dead and bind them together.

Every family will be followed up by a Family “way-finder,” who is there to mentor and support them before and during the camp, which is open to those with children ages 7 to 17 years. Fee is $50 per family, and limited scholarships are available. Registration deadline is April 18.
