Coming to Kaneohe next month, classical guitarist Jeff Peterson will headline a special benefit concert for Hawaii Public Radio.

“Jeff Peterson & Friends,” which already has sold out its VIP seats, will begin at 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at Paliku Theatre, sweetened by the additional voices and musical talents of solo artist Nathan Aweau, ukulele virtuoso Benny Chong and classical guitarist Ben Verdery. Peterson’s fans enjoy his jazz and classical skills as well as his award-winning slack key music.

Tickets cost $45 and are available at 955-8821 or at hawaiipublicradio.org. The theater’s box office will-call window will open at 3 p.m. on the Windward Community College campus.

A Maui boy, Peterson has won four Hoku awards and played on two Grammy Award-winning slack key albums. He will autograph CDs and take photos in the lobby after the show.

Honored as Male Vocalist of the Year, Aweau calls Kaneohe home and composed a hit song by that name for his E Apo Mai album. He’s also a former member of the duo Hapa.
