Restoring Faith In Goodness Of People

Dear Pamela,

While shopping at Pearl City Foodland, I handed the cashier a gift card, which only covered part of the bill.

While searching in my purse, I realized I left my wallet at home! I explained to the cashier I would return shortly. With great embarrassment I quickly exited.

Outside, a woman approached me and said she had paid the balance of my groceries and that I did not owe her anything. I was so flustered I didn’t appropriately thank her or get her name.

My faith in the goodness of people is restored!

Dear Pamela,

Mahalo to all the people who drive the bumper car/motor speedway/demolition derby known as Alakea Street between Beretania and Vineyard in the afternoon rush. At that time it’s murder, clogged to capacity.

I would like to thank all the drivers who allow the St. Andrew’s Priory parents to exit the premises and cross three lanes of traffic to Kukui Street, zoom down the ramp past Capitol Place and come back out on Vineyard.

Dear Pamela,

I was going down Kaonohi and Moanalua Road when my battery went dead. I got out of my car to tell the man behind me, and he said he’d help me. He went up to a black pickup and asked the driver if he had jumper cables. So, together, they got my battery going.

This senior citizen is very thankful to these two men who came to my rescue. May God bless you!

Dear Pamela,

On a trip back to Oahu from Kona, my cell phone slid out of my bag. My APPLAUSE to the person who found it on the plane and turned it in at baggage claim. Also to HAL, for notifying my daughter before I had missed my phone.

Dear Pamela,

My heartfelt thanks to Ryan Moore and Lei Watson, a military angel, who stopped to help me after my car stalled on Kamehameha Highway in front of Sam’s Club. Despite making Lei late for work, they towed my car to the repair shop and refused to accept my token of appreciation I will always remember their kindness. God bless them.

Dear Pamela,

My heartfelt thank you to Raymond, who used his cell phone to call HandiVan for me at Pearl City Food Court. He helped this distressed 87-year-old total stranger with a walker.

Thank you, Raymond, for coming to my rescue.
