In the world of operatic baritones, Verdi baritones are among the rarest… and the most celebrated. Hawaii-bred Quinn Kelsey proudly states he is “definitely a Verdi Baritone” in a recent interview with Minneapolis’ Star Tribune. Currently performing at Chicago’s Lyric Opera, he takes on the classic Verdi role of Giorgio Germont in a new production of La Traviata. Kelsey got his start in 1991 as a chorus member with Hawaii Opera Theater and is rapidly gaining widespread popularity … he joins the ranks of Verdi greats such as Leonard Warren, Robert Merrill and Kelsey’s idol Ettore Bastianini
