Pupukea ice skater Danielle Fletcher, 16, is on her way to the Australian Figure Skating Championships, being held the first week of December in Melbourne. A dual citizen, Danielle competed there previously while on a family visit, and was invited to the Big One. She has many mahalos for her Hawaii coach, Jennifer Jones. Mililani pro surfer and board shaper (5,000 of them) Darren Tatsuno has opened an insurance agency in Kapolei and is hoping to combine the two concepts. After years of successful surf competitions, Darren experienced a serious heart blockage, which led to a pacemaker and a less physically active lifestyle. For five years, the Mililani resident has led Assets’ Schools for the Future grant project, and for two years has managed all of its tech requirements and upgrades.
