Expert Help On How To Preserve Documents

Art conservationist Seth Irwin will speak to the community about how to preserve documents, books, photographs and maps at 1 p.m. today (April 2) in Hale Imiloa 111 at Windward Community College.

The WCC Community Forum in Chemistry has invited Irwin to discuss how he tackles the forces that cause deterioration in paper artifacts in a library and archive environment.

Irwin has a master’s degree in art conservation with specialization in paper conservation from Queen’s University in Ontario. He currently is working as the Paper Conservator for UH Manoa’s Hamilton Library, and he brings to the job extensive experience on rare book and artifact preservation from stints in Boston and Alaska.
