Kalani High graduate Michele Nekota is coming home from Utah to be city parks director, after working for and running Salt Lake City’s 21 rec centers, 102 parks, three ice rinks, 18 swimming pools, six golf courses – plus plenty of open space and trails – for 28 years. She also played volleyball for BYU and in the pros.

Jessica ($300) is student body president who also volunteers with Malama Maunalua and Waikiki-Kapahulu Library. Marina ($700), another Malama Maunalua volunteer, arranged to adopt a stream bed by the school.
