Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Kimberly Soares has been promoted by UHA, a leading health insurance company, to the position of business development manager. Soares has been with UHA for the past 10 years, starting as a billing clerk. She joined UHA’s sales team as an account representative three years later and was promoted to account executive in 2008. Soares attented Maui Community College and UH-Manoa, and completed programs in business administration and hospitality management from Kapiolani Community College and Denver Business College.
Chris Martin has recently been promoted to regional manager by Young Brothers Limited. Martin, who joined Young Brothers in 2006, most recently served as superintendent of Shoreside Equipment in the maintenance department. In his new role, Martin will be responsible for all aspects of cargo-handling operations. He also has previous experience at Alaska Marine Lines.
Marci McCalmon has been hired as sales support manager for ProService Hawaii, an HR administration organization. McCalmon will focus on reducing the length of the sales cycle and improving the efficiency of the business development team. McCalmon was previously a partnership account manager with the Institute of Internal Auditors. Prior to that she was sales and marketing coordinator with CoAdvantage, a Florida-based PEO.
Robert R. Sloan, MD, has been appointed director of Hawaii Concussion Care Center at Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience and Castle Medical Center. Sloan’s multi-disciplinary team provides neuro-rehabilitation and recommendations for safe returns to work and sport-related activities. Sloan is a member of the Olympic Sports Medicine Society, a world champion-level certified ringside physician and founding board member of the State Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board.
Mariah Holden, an attorney with Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing, has been nominated by the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii for her contribution as a pro bono guardian ad litem. A guardian ad litem is appointed child welfare cases with the goal of either reunification or permanency for a child.
