There’s a buzz around town about Bee Green Cleaners, a full-service dry cleaning business that caters to all of your laundry, alterations and tailoring needs, including wedding dress preservation.

Located in the newly renovated Aina Haina Shopping Center, Bee Green Cleaners is owned and operated by David Murphy, who says the concept of this environmentally friendly business is to reduce trips to the dry cleaners.

“We wanted families to reduce the amount of errands that they had to run in a week by providing convenient and free delivery service right to their door,” he says. “Dry cleaning is actually one of those services that require two trips each time a customer cleans: one to drop off and another to pick up.”

So with the initiative to “go green,” Bee Green Cleaners makes it easier on folks by providing route services to neighborhoods and office buildings twice a week, in which both pickups and dropoffs occur.

“The size of the order or the frequency doesn’t matter,” Murphy says. “The fewer cars on the road means that there is less fuel being consumed. Though this service may be an old idea, we’ve placed this service as a cornerstone of the business.

“Our goal is to service every major neighborhood with our delivery service,” he adds, noting that it currently covers the Leeward, East and Windward sides and Honolulu town.

Bee Green Cleaners also reinvents traditional dry cleaning practices. For example, the company recently introduced reusable garment bags that eliminate plastic waste. According to Murphy, the bag effortlessly converts into a laundry duffle-style bag, which makes transporting simple.

“We’re also going green by recycling hangers and cutting down on overall paper waste,” he says. “We find that our customers don’t need all the fluff and dressing that comes with traditional cleaning. We deliver professionally cleaned and pressed garments to meet our customers’ satisfaction.”

Customers are raving about the company’s many specials as well, including the ongoing five for $15 deal on laundered and pressed cotton shirts. In addition, firsttime customers now can receive 10 percent off dry cleaning and alteration services.

“The rewarding aspect of being an entrepreneur is seeing completely satisfied customers and being part of a team that takes pride in what we do,” Murphy explains. “Each one of our employees earnestly cares about our customers. We try our best to hear exactly what they want and deliver on their needs.”
