Giving Back Local Style

By Chris Sbarbaro
Vice President of Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Since our inception in Hawaii nearly 20 years ago, Enterprise Rent-ACar has grown from a three-person operation that started in Waipahu to a business with more than 30 Enterprise locations across the state. Because of this sizeable local presence, Enterprise has had the privilege of serving thousands of Hawaii residents, who have become familiar faces and lifelong friends.

Our “Giving Back” philosophy is one of our company’s core values and has been especially important to us. We owe our success to the support and loyalty of the people who live in the communities where we operate our business and who do business with us. That’s why we are committed to supporting local worthwhile endeavors including our sponsorship of Hawaii High School Athletic Association’s Hall of Honor Scholarship winners.

In developing and supporting our local communities, Enterprise Holdings, which operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car , as well as the National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, spends millions of dollars on vehicle purchases locally, generates tax revenue through sales and employment and creates jobs that produce significant income and benefits for employees and their families.

This dedication to our local community and commitment to excellent customer service has promoted growth within Enterprise – and with that growth, numerous career opportunities for our employees.

Enterprise is the largest recruiter of college graduates in the U.S., and here in Hawaii our growth has brought increased hiring year after year, with 2012’s expected new hires by Enterprise to top 200 throughout the state. It’s another reason Enterprise applauds the efforts of our outstanding local student athletes, and is thrilled to support their ongoing education. They are the future leaders of our community and our company.

As we continue to bring innovation to Hawaii through our fleet, such as being the first rental car company to add electric vehicles (EVs) and charging stations to our local branches in Hawaii, our goal is to strengthen our presence as a solid community partner.

It is the combination of many basic concepts – unique services, community support, business expansion and career opportunities – that puts a business one step ahead and makes it the No. 1 choice for customers. Providing excellent service and treating people as ohana helps sustain Enterprise as the neighborhood company you can always depend on. We’ll be here when you need us and we’ll even pick you up!
