Get Rid Of E-waste, Documents Saturday

West Oahu residents can be pro-active on Secure Your ID Day this Saturday by taking their unneeded documents for shredding between 9 a.m. and noon in Aiea.

As a partner in the community service day, Access Information Management (AIM) will accept up to two boxes of personal papers, as well as electronic waste and unused cell phones at its site, 98-736 Moanalua Loop. Also present will be security experts from First Hawaiian Bank and Better Business Bureau to advise about identity theft protection.

“Consumers and businesses are now identifying and stopping scams faster than ever before,” said BBB’s CEO Gregory Dunn. “But con artists also are acting quicker, taking advantage of technology and victimizing more consumers.

“It is in consumers’ best interests to treat their personal information like they do their personal safety.”

Co-partner with AIM in the Oct. 19 effort is Pacific Corporate Solutions in Halawa Valley. Other shredding and disposal sites that day are at McKinley and Castle high schools.
