KiRu Manufacturers

Hawaiian clothing design companies KiniZamora and Waru have merged to create KiRu Manufacturers which designs and produces all of the garments for KiniZamora and Waru locally, in addition to its own house line of couture clothes for men and women.

The designers will introduce their military-inspired fall 2013 collections at a fashion show Friday, April 12 at 6 p.m. at Aloha Tower. There also will be a special finale featuring couture designs from the “Japanesian” collection, a collaboration between both designers.

KiniZamora, which was founded in 2005 by Kiniokahokuloa Zamora, is a ready-to-wear line designed with a “Park Avenue princess” girl in mind. His design esthetic is a combination of hard-edge lines with a feminine twist. Zamora, 29, graduated in fashion technology from Honolulu Community College and attended The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Waru, which comes from the Japanese word warubozu meaning “mischievous,” was created by 28-year-old Dean Satta. Born and raised on Kauai and now residing in Honolulu, Satta finds inspiration from his Japanese heritage fused with his local upbringing. The collection started with Hawaiian-inspired animation prints on T-shirts but has since evolved to a full ready-to-wear men’s collection, including shorts, denim, button-ups, sweaters and shirts.
