Dec. 20 Final Day For Firecracker Permits

Dec. 20 is the final day to obtain firecracker permits for New Year’s Eve. In West Oahu, the city permits can be obtained from Kapolei Satellite City Hall at Kapolei Hale or at the Pearlridge Center Uptown satellite office.

Each $25 permit allows the purchase of not more than 5,000 firecrackers from a licensed retailer, and they must be purchased no more than five days prior to use. Hours for setting them off are between 9 p.m. Dec. 31 and 1 a.m. Jan. 1. And another thing, all other fireworks are illegal, including fountains and sparklers.

Both satellites are open weekdays, Kapolei from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Pearlridge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
