Lanikai’s fun and funny celebration, the Woes Parade and Recovery Party, will begin for the 42nd time at 8 a.m. Jan. 1 on Aalapapa Drive.

Festivities kick off with Da Beeg Foot Race, located near the basketball court on Aalapapa, and Ginger Edmunds could use some help with this event. Call her at 263-4354 to volunteer.

At 9 a.m., Da Hoot and Hollar Parade gets under way, with this year’s theme centered around “Furloughs.” Create a float, form a band, dress up or just walk, but make sure to wake up to greet those who have arisen so early to create entries for the coveted grand prize for best float. Tim McKeague will cater the “ono da kine” breakfast following the march. Cost is $5 per person. McKeague also needs some help with cooking and serving; to volunteer, call him at 261-4784.

Da One of a Kine Auction starts at 11 a.m., and da one and only Trade Winds Jazz Band will once again entertain with great jazz and dance music.
