The 2009 Transpacific Yacht Race started last month off Point Fermin in San Pedro, Calif., with ships headed for the finish line at Diamond Head Lighthouse here on Oahu.

Among the participating ships is the Lynx, dubbed “America’s Privateer,” a 122-square-foot schooner, War of 1812 ship. The Lynx will race 2,225 nautical miles across the Pacific from California to Oahu, and after it completes the race, the public is invited to climb aboard for educational dockside tours and adventure sails.

Come see the Lynx at Ko Olina Resort and Marina July 31-Aug. 10. It is expected at 3 p.m. July 31. Tours and sails will be available Aug. 1-2 and 6-9. Tours will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and sails from 2-5 p.m. Take an extended sail aboard the Lynx from Ko Olina to Hanalei Bay on Aug. 12 for a fee of $300.
