Suits for any personality! That’s the theme for this year’s highly anticipated MidWeek swimsuit issue featuring beautiful local models in the latest swimwear fashions. In past years, the swimsuit issue featured about a dozen models with only one or two suits each.

This year, we photographed only three female models: former Miss Hawaii USA Chanel Wise, model Kamakoa Page and America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10 candidate Anya Kop (the show airs Wednesdays at 7 p.m. on The CW, Oceanic Digital 93). Glamour photographer Russell Tanoue and his team of stylists worked their magic to give each girl a totally different look for each photo, proving that you can find a variety suits to fit your mood for the day.

According to retailers, trends for the season include polka-dots, tribal and graphic prints, bold colors, tie and ring details, and cover ups. Also popular are banded bottoms, as well as tie-side bikinis. Featured here are some of the newest swimwear styles from Allure, Nordstrom, Macy’s and Hula-la!

For the past nine years, glamour photographer Russell Tanoue has lent his talents for MidWeek‘s annual swimsuit issue. Here, we catch up with Russell for a little Q & A:

Q: Of the nine MidWeek swimsuit issues, which one was your favorite?

A: I would have to say the year all the models had no breast augmentation. Nothing against enhancing your appearance, I just wanted to celebrate natural beauty that year.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your job?

A: Making people feel good.

Q: What is something you need to have at all your photo shoots?

A: Besides my gear, CornNuts! Seriously, it’s become my new vice since quitting smoking in 2005. I urge all of you smokers to kick the habit, join the gym and grab a bag of CornNuts!

Q: Who would you most love to photograph?

A: It was Princess Diana. She had this glow about her that I wanted to capture.

Q: What has been the most challenging experience for you?

A: Personally, it was being a victim of identity theft.

Q: What is beauty to you? A: True beauty is unseen. Everything on the outside is just temporary. Enjoy what you see but hold on tight to inner beauty.

Q: What is your advice for teens seeking to be involved in the modeling and entertainment industry?

A: Like anything, don’t let it become your self-esteem. Have fun but detach your soul from the industry and you’ll be OK.

Q: What is your goal in life? A: To be happy with each yesterday.

Q: What’s new?

A: Well, after almost two decades in this industry, I am now offering a Pro Foto Workshop for aspiring photographers and a Best Face Pro Photo Make Up Workshop for the new makeup artist. Interested individuals may register at www.rtfoto.com

Q: Who can benefit from your services and how?

A: Anyone. Professionals, celebrities, aspiring models and actors, graduating seniors and couples for their engagement photos. For more information, visit www.rtfoto.com or the fansite at www.russelltanoue.com
