The next one starts at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of Honolulu (941-2566). Each year that the curtain goes up, they raise $5,000 to buy income- and food-producing animals for impoverished families ...

The IHOP fundraiser, known as National Pancake Day was originally scheduled for Fat Tuesday (Feb. 5), but you know what comes on that day - the Super Tuesday of presidential primary fame. Reading makes an impact, too, and children’s author Brandon Mull is in Kaneohe to drum up kids’ excitement for books. Brandon’s done his part, it seems. He’s author of a new fantasy series, which made the N.Y. Times best-seller list, and he already sold the movie rights for his latest, Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star. He’ll talk to students next week at Mokapu, Maunawili, Enchanted Lake and Puohala elementary schools, with a stop at Borders Kaneohe at 11 a.m. Feb. 16 ...
