If you’re reading this, chances are you’re a small-business owner. There are 28,000 of us statewide, employing more than 450,000 state residents.

Unfortunately, owning a small business in Hawaii doesn’t necessarily mean making a profit. Goods may be sold and services rendered, but more and more employers are finding that the cost of doing business in Hawaii can often equal their expected profits.
