To honor the late Nelson Mandela, Valley of the Temples is providing a memorial book for the public to write messages of condolence and to join in the worldwide tribute to him.

The book is available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m daily through Dec. 31 in the office at the memorial park, which is located on the mauka side of Kahekili Highway. Officials stated that they hope this small gesture will bring the community together “to celebrate Mandela’s legacy.” The book will be shared with his family and constituents. For details, call 239-8811.

Mandela, 95, died Dec. 5 at his home in Johannesburg after a long illness. South Africa’s first black president – a Nobel Peace Prize winner and longtime political prisoner – was the champion of his country’s anti-apartheid movement.
