Castle Summit Coming March 9

An education summit, planned for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 9 in the Castle High School cafeteria, aims to strengthen area schools through “The Power of Partnerships.”

The group, which has been meeting and evolving in recent years, seeks people with good ideas to work with the Kahuku-toKaneohe public schools to create “welcoming campuses” that encourage partnering with students’ families. It’s officially called the Castle Complex Family-School Partnership Initiative.

The March 9 summit signals the launch of an effort to improve this working relationship between home and family. Morning refreshments will be served. To sign up, call 235-7747 or send an email to kcfcjchang@pacthawaii.org and indicate if childcare is needed.

“The target audience are the school community councils, PTO boards and other parent/community leaders,” said Susan Young of the Windward District office. “In other words, people who make things happen at the schools. However, all parents, students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members are invited to participate.”

The summit is sponsored by Castle Complex Community Council (C4) and the Castle/Kahuku Complex Area and the DOE’s Windward School District.
