Castle Professional Center Brings Urgent Care To Kaneohe

Castle Medical Center recently opened an urgent care center in Kaneohe, helping to supplement the services of its busy emergency room on the main hospital campus.

Located in Castle Professional Center at 46-001 Kamehameha Hwy., Castle Urgent Care is open daily, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. for walk-in treatment of children and adults who need medical care for non-life-threatening conditions but are unable to make immediate appointments with their primary physicians. The service is on the ground floor of the three-story building, which is located to the Kailua side of the Kaneohe Walgreen’s store.

In addition to general care for illnesses and injury, the clinic offers sports physicals, vaccinations, TB tests, injured worker care and return clearance, lab work, EKGs and X-rays. Prescription refills will be done on a case-by-case basis. Castle Urgent Care does not handle life- or limb-threatening medical emergencies. Those should go directly to the emergency room.

CMC also held an open house May 7 at the professional center to acquaint the public with the expanded hours at its pharmacy, lab and imaging departments housed there. In late March the hospital announced that it would be renovating the building to the tune of $24 million. The complex currently provides office space for physicians and specialists, as well as its ancillary units. The renovation will upgrade infrastructure, such as air conditioning, elevators, sprinkler systems and the general interior and exterior of the building. The existing parking structure also will be completely rebuilt to accommodate 80 additional vehicles.

Hospital CEO Kathy Raethel announced earlier that CMC had purchased both Kailua Professional Center buildings on Aulike Street “to help us develop and strengthen our physician integration strategies as well as our presence in Kailua town,” she explained.
