Bands, Fireworks Will Stir Up Base

The carnival and concert series known at BayFest is set for Oct. 17-19 at Kaneohe Marine base, and tickets are selling right now.

The entertainment lineup includes Uncle Kracker and Smash Mouth Oct. 17, followed by the fireworks show; Capital Cities Oct. 18, and country music star Rodney Atkins with special guest Rose Falcon Oct. 19. The Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band will accompany the shows each night. Also booked are deejays and the winners of Battle of the Bands.

Elsewhere will be E.K. Fernandez carnival rides and games, a BayFest expo, Coconut Island boat rides, food, military and car displays, and a GNC BodySearch king and queen fitness competition at 3 p.m. Oct. 18. (To enter, those age 18 and older can apply at bayfesthawaii.com or call 254-7597.)

Concert gates open daily at 5 p.m. and hours are 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Oct. 17, noon-1 a.m. Oct. 18, and noon-10 p.m. Oct. 19.

General admission tickets cost $5 for the carnival and activities, which must be purchased each day. Concert tickets (including admission) cost $35 per night until Oct. 16, when prices jump to $40 at the gate (see above website). Keiki ages 5 and under get in free.
