Pet sitter Pam Lewis moved from the East Coast to Hawaii in 2001, and she honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. “Even though it was completely baseless,” the Kailua woman stated, “I was concerned there might be differences in the way pet owners in Hawaii behaved toward their pets.

“The fact is good pet owners just want their pets to be happy and healthy. In that same vein, dogs enjoy rolling in poop regardless of where they reside, and cats enjoy maiming small creatures regardless of geography.”

Lewis established Doggie Paddles Pet Sitting Service in Kailua in 2006, and has now written an e-book about her Hawaii animal-loving experiences: Pet Sitting in Paradise. The book focuses on the hijinks she encounters as a pet sitter as well as her own journey from the Mainland to Hawaii, and it has been drawing rave reviews for its humor and detail.

“In the end, not only is the adage ‘people are people’ true, but pets are pets,” stated Lewis.

Interested readers can purchase Lewis’ e-book for $2.99 on amazon.com. For a taste of her writing, read her blog at petsittinginparadise.wordpress.com.
