Aspiring Singers Compete In Kunia Live Returns! Grand Finale

The winners of previous Kunia Live Returns qualifying events faced one another Nov. 16 at the Kunia Live Returns Grand Finale.

Treating the audience to a range of music from Beyonce to Bobby Darin, the 25 competitors made it difficult for judges to choose just three champions in each age category.

The winners in the 6-11 category were Kaylee Shimizu (7) of Ewa Beach in first place, Taylor Rochelle Moody (10) of Waikele second, and McKenzie Kurosu (10) of Ewa Beach third. The 12-17 category winners were Summer Kealoha (16) of Haleiwa in first, Christian Caro (12) of Waipahu second, and Ciera Mann of Ewa Beach (15) third.

Finally, the 18 and over category winners were Eddie Kunipo of Nanakuli in first, Caitlin Strickland of Ewa Beach second, and Miriam Shimizu of Ewa Beach third.

First-, second- and third-place winners received $200, $100 and $50, respectively. First-place winners also earned a $50 gift certificate to Waipahu-based performing arts center Pas De Deux Hawaii.

The audience had a chance to win prizes, too, with gift cards donated by various center merchants.
