This week in 1961: A front-page story in Honolulu Advertiser reads: “Isle Deejays Set World Record In Bowl-A-Thon.” The article shows a picture of yours truly holding up a very swollen thumb, and reads: “K-POI disc jockeys Tom Moffatt and Tom Rounds set a new world record for Bowl-A-Thons. They lasted 60 hours and 19 minutes, exactly 10 hours beyond the old record, and in the process raised more than $1,000 for the Hawaii division of the American Cancer Society. At least 10,000 people saw Moffatt at the Pali Lanes, while Rounds bowled at the Waikiki Bowl.
