All Aboard For PCC’s Christmas Canoe Ride

Polynesian Cultural Center switches to winter mode this weekend with the advent of Christmas-inspired canoe rides through the park.

Kicking off the park’s “Christmas in Polynesia” is a dinner concert Friday night featuring Amy Hanaialii and Hiikua at the Gateway venue from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for the dinner show, or $15 and $10 for concert only.

“We may never get snow in Laie,” said PCC marketing director Raymond Magalei, “but Christmas in Polynesia takes the concept of a sleigh ride and evolves it into an experience as unique as Hawaii.”

From Friday through Dec. 22, PCC will offer 25-minute canoe rides that wind through a “Pacific island wonderland” with traditional holiday narrative, Christmas lights, actors, animals, live music and the production of The Littlest Star.

The rides start at 6:30 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (through Dec. 15) and Monday-Saturday (Dec. 17 to 22). Tickets cost $10 and $8 for kamaaina. Those bringing a canned food donation for Hawaii Foodbank receive a $2 discount. Call 293-3333.
