Ahh, Yes: Mall Shopping Goes Best With A Nice Massage

By JUNI WENDELIN FASTING

Hawaiian Chair Massage Co. opened its first store in February at the former Fantastic Sam’s space on the second floor of the Sears wing at Windward Mall.

The new store features massage chairs, a foot massage chair and a partitioned space in the back for customers who want more privacy.

Earlier the company had a kiosk at the mall, but wanted to expand following encouragement from people to offer full-body massages. Customers look for a wide span of different services, which the store is now more equipped to fulfill.

“Some people just want a chill, easy-going massage, while others come in with shoulder pains or a neck injury,” explained Chris Paler, one of the managers at Hawaiian Chair Massage Co. “We listen to what the customers want and welcome all clients.”

According to Paler, people have a very narrow view of what a massage is. The store will work to implement Thai Yoga massage and other floor massages in their business.

“Massage is more than lying on a table,” he said.

To make it easier to accommodate customers’ wishes, appointments are appreciated. At the same time, the store tries to be as well-staffed as possible. The wait for walk-ins usually is never longer than 20 minutes.

A 10-minutes massage costs $12 plus tax. A one-hour, full-body massage costs $64 dollars plus tax. The store also sells some massage products.
