The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii recently honored a group of esteemed
teachers of aikido, karate, kendo and ju do, as well as a corporate icon of
Japanese culture at its gala event, Celebration of Leadership and Achievement
at Hilton Hawaiian Village.
The annual fundraiser included a silent auction and dinner as well as the awards
portion of the program which honored Takashi Nonaka, Schinichi Suzuki, Bobby
Lowe, James Miyaji, Dr. Noboru Akagi, Shigeo Yoshinaga, Albert Aoki and Tsuruo
Fukushima. The corporate honoree, Shirokiya, was represented by its president,
Tadatoshi Suzuki.
