Potters, save the dates. The Hawaii Craftsmen’s Raku Ho‘olaule‘a returns for its 39th year.

Activities for the monthlong event kicked off May 18 with a clay pottery demonstration by visiting guest artists Charlie and Linda Riggs at 5:30 p.m. at University of Hawaii’s Ceramics Lab.

Each year, Raku Ho‘olaulea brings together ceramic artists for workshops, firing and camping out at Camp Mokuleia.

Other activities include:

• May 22-25: Camp out and pottery firing.

• May 24: Glaze and fire your own tea bowls at the community kiln from noon to 4 p.m.

• June 4: Opening and reception for selected works created at the camp from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The ARTS at Marks Garage. Experience the way of tea with Urasenke Foundation Hawaii and the Joy of Sake. Raku ceramic artwork and sake cups will be available for purchase.
